shakespeareinthesnark: super pretentious (but also really interesting) note: the word accent is formally only correct when talking about the way someone speaks a language other than their first (francophones have a french accent speaking english, anglophones have an english accent speaking chinese, etc.) A dialect is the specific variation on the language between native speakers. Of course this doesn't matter a ton in most settings, but it's super helpful when discussing linguistics.

Friday affirmations from former GLSEN Student Ambassadors! You are important — never forget it!

This is great!!

everyone has said and done problematic things in their lifetime. that’s a result of the society we live in, not necessarily a reflection of their character.

what is a reflection of their character is how they react to being informed of the negativity within their behavior and statements, and whether or not they choose to change their behavior.

“From 18 to 22 you meet a lot of temporary people.”

(via jordancorin)

It makes me sad how true this is - but along with the copious amount of temporary people - you meet some less temporary people. And importantly - even the ‘temporary people’ impact your life and have a part in who you are and will be.
